We were absolutely thrilled to have had such a fantastic turn out and support from everyone on what was our first fundraising Hike, in support of CMRF Crumlin. Everyone was so generous with their time and donations that we exceeded our fundraising target and to date have raised €8,745.
Following a safety briefing from Mountain Rescue volunteer and Lafferty Associate Director Chris England, over 70 hikers set off for what turned out to be quite a challenging 15km. The jury is still out as to whether or not the halfway marker was correct, but nevertheless there was a real sense of achievement by the end of the afternoon, when everyone relaxed in the Glendalough Hotel with some well deserved hot food and refreshments.
A special thanks to the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Redcross Mountain Rescue, who gave up their day to provide support to the #Laffertycharityhike.
CMRF Crumlin is the fundraising body for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin, as well as the National Children’s Research Centre, dedicated to improving the quality of life for this and future generations of sick children.
